ROLLER DERBY DOUBLE HEADER AT DOURO ARENA JULY 22nd!

We are back on the track on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, hosting “Jeo-PARDy,” our second and third games of the season against Royal City Roller Derby and Kingston Roller Derby.

Doors open at 3:30 PM, with the first game starting at 4:00 PM, followed by Game 2 at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $10 in advance by sending an e-transfer to ptboareard@gmail.com or $15 at the door.  Kids under 12 are free and this is a family friendly event.

Those interested in volunteering, officiating or learning more about becoming a non-skating official with the league are encouraged to get in touch through our Facebook page. Space is still available for vendors at the event.

We are always looking for new skaters and skating referees, with opportunities for all genders. The next Derby 101 program is scheduled later in the year, and will cater to both absolute beginner skaters and to those who already have strong quad roller skating skills. Announcement! Monthly Open Scrimmage for the Season!!

Calling all skaters! (and NSO’s and refs!)

Starting May 2, 2023, PARD will be hosting an open scrimmage the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at the Douro Arena (please arrive early enough to be geared up and on the track by 6:30).

WFTDA Announcement!

The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is proud to announce today that Peterborough Area Roller Derby (aka PARD) has been accepted as a full member of the WFTDA, the international governing body for the sport of women’s flat track roller derby and a member organization for leagues to collaborate and network.
As a new member of the WFTDA, PARD joins the ranks of over 400 skater-owned-and-operated leagues worldwide that have united to lead the sport of women’s flat track roller derby. They can now enjoy the benefits of full WFTDA membership, including the ability to compete in sanctioned games that qualify for international WFTDA ranking in the next WFTDA competitive season.

Learn to Roller Skate with PARDy’s Own: Car On Fyre!

Open to all genders 16+ with no previous experience or very minimal experience as this course will be focused on the basics (under 16 youth are encouraged to join junior derby if they are interested in learning to skate).

1 hour sessions for 8 weeks.

Cost will be $80 plus $30 for insurance. Fee and proof of insurance will be required in order to participate (you will be given further instructions for this).

Saturdays from 1:15PM – 2:15PM with an opportunity to practice skills individually until 2:45PM at St. James United Church, 221 Romaine St., in the gymnasium. Doors will be open at 1:00PM, you are expected to be ready to skate by 1:15PM.

Starting January 21st, 2023 and running until March 11th.

There will be an open house on January 7th, 2023 to fill out paperwork, help navigate insurance and ask questions about gear or try on loaner gear. Please arrive at 1:00PM.

Required equipment is roller skates or roller blades, dual impact certified helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards.

Lessons will be taught by Julie Stender (Car On Fyre), certified Skate IA Level 1 instructor.

Please note: The space will be shared with others who will be practicing park skating at the same time, but it will be divided for the safety of all participants.
