bangoverArea 705 and Peterborough Roller Derby Leagues announced the results of our  “Name our League Contest” at our winning Douro season closer against Lindsay Roller Derby on Saturday August 22, with the new branding of “Peterborough Area Roller Derby” – a name that gives homage to both founding leagues.

The first event hosted under the new league name will be “Hangover Bangover” – a co-ed scrimmage on Sunday, September 20, 3-5pm at the Legacy Bowl, Knights of Columbus Park, 5 Park St. North, Peterborough.

This event is free to the public, and features skaters from leagues across Ontario. The full contact scrimmage is held as part of Peterborough Pride Week events. Skaters, referees and non-skating officials interested in participating should register on the event page: by September 6.

Peterborough Area Roller Derby is also offering a Fresh Meat course – 12 weeks beginning September 23 that teaches basic skating and roller derby technique. There will be Meat & Greets on September 9 and 16 from 7- 9 pm at St. James Church, 221 Romaine St. for those interested.  Or, sign up for Fresh Meat by clicking the Fresh Meat tab above.
